Eating Bugs

I took Clydes advice on working off last nights adventures. First 40 minutes of walking and a few hours later I went cycling for 7 miles. Enjoyed it but at one point I swallowed a big bug. I was going up a hill and was gasping for air and a big bug happened to fly right into my mouth. Unfortunately I didn't have time to see what kind of bug it was. I hope it wasn't any endangered species. I wonder how many calories a bug is?

Late Night Munchies

I had a serious case of the munchies last night. Damn it! Just before bed I felt that I just had to eat so I went downstairs and grabbed some snacks, a bunch of apples, a couple of sandwiches, 2 cans of diet coke and a few sausages. I had nothing else to eat, that's what scares me. If I had pizza, hamburgers, ice cream and candy I would have eaten it. That's why I don't buy that kind of crap food, so it's not available if I get tempted. Last nights "adventure" landed on about 400-500 calories. Even if it's not much it's still not according to my plan and I feel terrible about it.

Warrior Diet

I talked with a guy yesterday who recommended the "Warrior Diet". He told me a friend of his dropped about 70 pounds so far by using it. I don't have the book but from the warriordiet.com website you can read about it. However, I don't want to try out a new diet since I'm already losing weight.

5 miles on the bike

I woke up early this morning and decided to go for a ride, 5 miles to be exact. Me legs felt like overcooked spaghetti when I came home. I snapped this photo with my mobile. Today I'm going shopping for kettlebells.

A trip to the hospital

The title may sound a bit scary, I'm not injured or anything. I went to the local hospital to meet with my nutritian/dietitian/coach and found out that I lost over 8 pounds since our last meeting, that's nice! At my next appointment (4 weeks) I hope that I've lost another 8-10 pounds. I'm going on a vacation next week to Cyprus for 7 days and I hope I don't gain weight during my visit. I'll try to eat loads of fruit and fish.

Weigh Day -2 pounds

Weigh day today and I've lost 2 pounds since last week. It's not the best result but It's better than nothing so I'm happy! I can allready feel it working. For instance, before even getting out of bed or walking up the stairs to our second floor was a struggle but now it's no big deal. Just small things that make life a little better.

Blogging outside

Yup, I'm sitting on my porch with my laptop trying to work on my suntan lol. I'm laughing out loud because I'm white as a ghost. We went to our local sushi bar today for dinner. I love sushi! I had 10 bits with diet coke, about 400-500 calories total. Feels like a really good day.

Counting Calories

Yesterday I started to count my calories. There's a swedish website where you can add your profile and add what you eat from a data base. You can also add your own products. You can also keep track of your exercise etc. I bet there are thousands of website like this out there but I think this is the biggest swedish one.

The reason I started with this yesterday is due to the fact that I didn't lose any weight last week and I was wondering if I might be eating more than what I think. I entered every single thing I ate yesterday and came up with this:

  • Daily intake: 1406 calories.

  • Daily exercise: 646 calories.


Do you think this is too much, too little?

Nordic Walking

I was reading an interesting post over at 125pounds.com about how to enjoy exercise and came to think of "nordic walking" or "pole walking". I started with it a couple of months ago and I love it. I think you have to try it to understand. It feels like you can go faster and you get a higher pulse since you're working with your arms. Some studies say that you burn up to 30% more calories, don't know if it does but it feels like that could be true.

"Nordic walkers use more of their entire body (with greater intensity) and receive fitness building stimulation not as present in normal walking for the chest, lats, triceps, biceps, shoulder, abdominals, spinal and other core muscles." - Wikipedia

Weigh Day

What a lousy day. Excactly the same weight as last week, on the pound. It bothers me because I haven't been eating any junk food what so ever and I've been out walking almost every day. But I can't really do anything about it now. Have to keep on struggling and hope for the best next week. I've also started a swedish version of my blog since it's easier for me to express myself in my native language. However, I'll be posting my progress here too.

Fat Man Walking

I've been walking every day since my last post. 40-70 minutes a day. I really hope that it shows on the scale tomorrow when it's "weight day". Oh yes, another funny thing. I met my wifes brother today, haven't met him in a month or so and he asked me if I had lost weight or something. That's encouraging :)

Weight Loss

Yes, weight loss is a strange thing. Many people would do or pay anything to lose weight yet it's totally free or at least cheaper than spending cash on junk food. I'm talking from personal experience. I started the journey towards my new life in january 2010 when I realized the seriousness of my situation. Even going up the stairs to the second floor was a struggle. I've only been able to lose 27 pounds since then but at least it's going in the right direction. The first couple of months I did no exercising what so ever. I just quit eating sugar and fast food. In march I started with short walks, 10-15 minutes at a time and after a few weeks it was 30 minutes. Now I walk 40-90 minutes 3-4 times a week. I only wish I would lose weight like those Bigget Loser guys, like 50 pounds in 4 weeks. That's insane!

Motivation and Rain

It's been raining non stop for several days and it's affecting my motivation. Not when it comes to eating right but I haven't been out walking for a few days. I drink a lot of meal replacement shakes to keep my daily intake low. About 3 shakes a day and 1-2 meals. I'm thinking of doing only shakes for a few weeks to get a boost. Any suggestions?

Loving the Pedometer

I got a pedometer (step counter) from my wife the other day. Never used one before but I love electronical gadgets and stuff and it was cool to see how much (or little) you really walk each day. It becomes something of a challange to beat your own record. I like it alot, thanks :)
